EFFECTS: relaxing the bowels and softening hardness; harmonizing the stomach and discharging heat.
INDICATION: greater yang syndrome- aversion to heat after sweating; delirious speech; vexation and fullness in the middle; floating pulse. It's applied to urticaria; induced by gastrointestinal intoxication; delirious speech due to febrile diseases or constipation; swelling and pain of the throat; mouth and tongue sores; surging counterflow due to constipation; painful swollen gums; fetid mouth odor; red eves; headache.
CLINICAL REFERENCE: This formula is mildest laxatives among three Major Rhubarb Combination(Cheng Qi Tang); with Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Da Huang) promoting intestinal peristalsis and Natrii Sulfas (Mang Xiao) facilitating secretion of intestinal mucosa; combined to enhance each other, in addition to the alleviation effect by Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gan Cao) internally. Very effective to constipation induced by febrile diseases, stomach heat manifested as vexation and fullness in the heart, early phase of intestinal dryness bind.
