Major Bupleurum Combination (exterior interior releasing formula)
Effects: harmonizing and releasing lesser yang; purgation and heat-binding.
Indications: cold damage entering brightness yang without leaving lesser yang; vexation and constipation; rigidity and fullness below the heart; persistent vomiting; alternating chills and fever; sunken replete pulse.
Clinical Reference: This formula is often used in treating habitual constipation, hepatitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis , gallbladder stone, hepatomegaly, cariogenic asthma, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, gout, and intestinal perforation. Major signs are distress below the heart, and stuffiness/hardness below the heart.
