Platycodon Combination (phlegm-dispelling formula)
EFFECTS: vomiting pus due to lung abscess; expelling pus and detoxifying.
INDICATION: cough induced by deficiency fire flaming upward- swelling and pain in the throat; vomiting of sticky phlegm, pus and blood; chill and aversion to cold; distention and fullness in the chest; dry throat with no thirst; fishy smelling turbid saliva.
CLINICAL REFERENCE: This formula is often used in treating vomiting of pus and blood due to lung abscess; weak body. It can reinforce the healthy qi and expel toxin, usually regarded as an effective remedy for lunq abscess deficiency syndrome .
